Liquid Membrane
From applying waterproofing coatings to roofs and building exteriors through to decks and gutters, Gunac | Waterproofing Specialists delivers high performance liquid membrane systems designed for durability, flexibility and long term protection.
What Is a Liquid Membrane System?
Liquid membranes are seamless waterproofing coatings applied directly to a prepared substrate. Once cured, they form a fully bonded, flexible membrane that protects against water ingress while accommodating structural movement.
Unlike sheet membranes, liquid systems are installed in a continuous layer with no joins, reducing weak points and allowing for precise detailing around penetrations, upstands and complex junctions.
Where Liquid Membranes Are Used
Our experienced coatings technicians apply liquid membrane systems across a wide range of commercial and residential applications, including:
Flat and low pitch roofs
Podium decks and balconies
Gutters and box gutters
External walls
Below ground walls and retaining structures
Plant rooms and service areas
Application methods include brush, roller or spray, depending on substrate condition, specification requirements and access constraints.
System Flexibility to Suit Your Requirements
Liquid membranes provide adaptable build ups to meet project specific demands. Systems can range from:
Single coat protective layers
Topcoats applied over existing membranes
Reinforced multi coat systems
Fully trafficable and vehicle rated systems
Our Quantity Surveyors and technical team assess your building condition, exposure risks and performance requirements to recommend the most suitable solution. Whether it is a targeted repair or a full system installation, we ensure the specification aligns with compliance standards and long term asset protection.
Key Benefits of Liquid Membrane Waterproofing
Seamless application
No laps or joins, reducing potential leak points.
Flexibility and movement tolerance
Accommodates substrate movement and thermal expansion.
Efficient sequencing
Ideal for staged construction and refurbishment projects.
Effective for remedial works
Excellent for repairs, detailing upgrades and overlay systems.
Recoat and lifecycle extension options
Systems can often be top coated within the same product range, extending service life and potentially renewing warranty coverage.
Considerations
Liquid membranes generally require programmed maintenance and may have shorter warranty periods compared to some sheet membrane systems. However, their ability to provide seamless detailing, simplified repairs and adaptable upgrades makes them a practical and cost effective solution in many scenarios.
Technical Precision. Proven Application.
Our certified coatings technicians follow strict substrate preparation, thickness control and curing procedures to ensure system integrity. Every project is delivered with a focus on compliance, durability and workmanship quality.
If you require a waterproofing assessment, repair strategy or full liquid membrane specification, our team can provide a clear, technically sound recommendation tailored to your building.
